For generations, Phú Quốc fishermen have regarded Vịnh Đầm as the island’s safest refuge whenever the sea turns rough — boats from all around converge here to wait out the storms. That same location and terrain later made it the site chosen for Cảng Vịnh Đầm, Phú Quốc’s first green container fishing port, and the official departure point for the high-speed ferry to the Nam Du Islands, replacing the old Bãi Vòng terminal. In other words, long before it became a tourist destination, Vịnh Đầm was already a working harbor — and that spirit is still fully intact today: boats head out to sea every evening, and fish and shrimp come back ashore every morning.

To set expectations honestly: Vịnh Đầm is not a white-sand swimming beach like Bãi Sao or Bãi Kem. The natural shoreline around the bay is still fairly rough around the edges, and some stretches aren’t cleaned regularly. What to bring
Since most of the Vịnh Đầm experience revolves around boats and water, bring: sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, sturdy strap-on sandals (the harbor has rocks and fishing nets, so thin flip-flops aren’t ideal), and a light jacket if you’re joining a night squid-fishing trip, as the sea breeze turns cool after dark. If you’re prone to seasickness, take medication about 30 minutes before departure even though the bay itself is quite calm.
